Cassadee Pope has revealed that she is working on a new album, and the Season 3 winner of The Voice has been playing a brand-new song, “Invincible,” live at recent concerts.

The power ballad’s melody and strong guitars, accentuated by Pope’s killer vocals, hearken back to her pre-country music days, when she was the lead singer of the pop-punk band Hey Monday.

“It’s very empowering,” Pope tells Rolling Stone Country of the new tune. “Very sassy … I’m showing a little bit more of an edgy side of myself.”

The 25-year-old says that she is being very intentional about the songs she chooses for her sophomore record.

“I want to make sure that I’m explaining myself and explaining where I am in my life perfectly with these songs,” she says.

To that end, Pope has spent most of her time writing, calling on everyone from Kip Moore to Liz Rose to Lady Antebellum‘s Charles Kelley to pen songs for the new record.

“I’m writing a lot and in the studio a ton, just getting a bunch of demos together and really comparing,” Pope tells The Boot. “I’ve written so much the past eight to nine months that my catalog is ginormous. It’s fun for me to kind of get to sift through and kind of get the best songs of the best.”

Pope is counting on her loyal fans to embrace her new record as much as they did her freshman Frame By Frame album in 2013.

“I’m so lucky. I have a huge fan base from back in the day when I was in my old rock band, and they’ve continued to stick with me, and they love my music now,” she says. “I haven’t left that behind. In reality, I can’t really. It’s just a part of me, so it feels good.”
